15 STRAIGHT YEARS!

Spring Trip 2009 - Annapolis-Baltimore Heritage Music Festivals

Congratulations to the 31 students and Mr. Cottrill who participated in the combined concert and symphonic band at the 2009 Annapolis Music Heritage Festival during the band's spring trip. The band brought home the Heritage Gold Award for superior instrumental performance. In addition, the band won the Adjudicator's Trophy for scoring 95 or higher on their performance.

As a result of their outstanding performance and Gold Award, the band has received an invitation to next year's National Invitational Band & Orchestra Festival to be held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.!

Winter Guard and Rapid Fire

The James River Winter Guard won its Group Competition March 28th and came in 4th at the finals of the AIA Regional Competition at Potomac Senior High School, Dumfries, VA. This is the highest the Guard has ever placed.

Both the concert band and the symphonic band performed exceptionally well at the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors’ Association District Band Festival.

The Symphonic Band received straight 1’s earning the James River High School band program Virginia Honor Band status for the 15TH YEAR IN A ROW!

NOTICE TO BAND PARENTS

The Band Boosters want your children to have a great band experience. We also want them to be safe. After a band event, whether a football game or competition, we want to make sure that all of the Regiment members get home safely. To do that, a number of chaperones must stay at school until every student has been picked up. In consideration of our parent volunteers, please make an effort to pick your Regiment member up promptly after every event.
