The marching band will be heading to Massaponax High School for the VBODA State Band Competition, the first part of the two-part competition series to earn Honor Band recognition. In order to be eligible for Honor Band status, the marching band must earn a superior rating at Saturday's competition (on Saturday) and a superior rating at the spring state competition held in March. This competition is what the band has been working toward all season.

Parents and friends are encouraged to attend and may ride the bus. Availabiity is on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission is charged (no more than $10) and you can purchase a DVD of the performance for approximately $15-$20. Place your order when you arrive so as to avoid the crowd after the competition. For those driving, directions are at the bottom of this email.

If you are interested in decorating (balloons, signs, streamers, etc.) near the band room or providing spirit support on Saturday, please reply to this email.

Students need to bring a bag lunch and money for concessions. Detailed schedule below:

12:00--polishers and percussion arrive
12:30--all others arrive
1:00-2:00-run through
2:00-2:30--load trailer
2:30--trailer leaves, students eat bag lunch
2:45--chaperones arrive
3:15--load buses
3:30--buses leave with students
4:30--trailer arrives at Massaponax
5:30--buses arrive at Massaponax
5:45--students dress
6:15--warm-up
6:45--staging
7:00--performance (we are the second to last band to perform)
7:30--ratings announced

From the South

I-95 to Exit 118
At top of the ramp take left turn onto Route 606.
Travel about 1 mile and take right at light onto Route 1 North.
Go north on Route 1 approximately 3 miles.
Take right into school at traffic light.

From the North

Take I-95 south to Exit 126
At bottom of ramp take right turn onto Route 1 South.
Go approximately 5 miles. School will be on left hand side.
Take 2nd entrance-left at traffic light.

NOTE: If the band has a successful practice on Tuesday, Mr. Cottrill will award them the day off on Wednesday, October 26, the half day. Please stay tuned and watch your email for updates.
