February 28, 7pm: Pre-Festival Concert and Band Parent Meeting: We will be electing the officers for next year's band boosters executive board. Please make every effort to attend because we need your vote. Also, the band will perform the festival music for the competition on March 10.

March 10: Band Festival (Assessment) at Lloyd C. Bird H.S. (time to be announced): This is the second part of the Virginia Honor Band process, where we must earn a superior rating to achieve honor band status for the 18th consecutive year. Please encourage your students to practice!

March 29, 7pm: Mandatory Spring Trip Meeting, Closed Commons: Everyone going on the trip must attend for important information. see trip information below.

April 12-14: All-State Band Concert: We are hosting the All-State Band Concert and will need volunteers to help. Details to follow.

Spring Trip, April 25-29: We leave at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, April 25th. All payments are due in full ($770.00) as of January 15th. Please send in any outstanding balances today. Rooming assignments have been finalized and cannot be changed due to the fees incurred. Cancellations would be at the expense of the participant cancelling. All monies submitted are non-refundable. Please submit a copy of your passport (photo page) by January 30th in a sealed envelope to the box in Mr. Cottrill's office. There will be a mandatory Spring Trip Meeting on Thursday, March 29th at 7:00 pm in the Closed Commons, for all chaperones, students and their parent(s). to complete several pieces of paperwork and explain final details. Band Scholarships: In February, we will announce the band scholarship process. Seniors in good financial standing (which means all band payments are current), who have maintained a "B" average in band, and plan to attend a community college, university, or professional school full time in the fall are elgibile to apply. Although the exact application due date has not been set, applications typically are due in April and require an essay and recommendation form. Award amounts range from $500 to $1,500 and are announced at the spring banquet.

Jazz Band/Rapid Fire: If you are in Jazz Band or Rapid Fire, please make sure that you have turned in your registration forms and payment.

Band Camp 2012: Band camp will be held August 13-29, 2012, 8:00am-4:30pm. Attendance everyday is mandatory for everyone. Please plan vacations, medical appointments, summer employment, athletic events/practices, etc. around these dates. Marching band registration and payment collection will begin sometime after spring break. Details will follow in a separate email later in the year.
